Sonia’s work, best described as a wildly vivid expression of her world, starts and ends with colour, poured on, teased, layered and textured, always striving to bring the lush tropical surrounds of nature into the home.
Born and raised in New Zealand, Sonia is a self taught mixed media artist typically working with acrylic paints and inks on canvas. She is currently residing with her family on the Sunshine Coast of Australia.
For Sonia painting is an expression of passion for her natural environs, the lush colours and shapes of the surrounding rainforests, coral reefs and hinterland. She is always seeking to capture the essence of that on canvas in the stunning colours of nature, gaining her a strong following with collectors throughout the world. She is also influenced by the mark making of indigenous cultures throughout history and these influences feature within her works.
